5 {Pins} Friday

Oh Pinterest, how I love you. You give me so much hope and ambition that, if we are being honest, really never actually gets fulfilled. I am an avid pinner but a horrible doer of the pins. Here are 5 that I'm going to do! Hopefully... maybe.

1. Pad Thai. I loooove it. And I should really learn how to make a killer version. I've got a few different recipes pinned, I'm gonna try to find the best one. If you happen to have a dynamite recipe for this please share!!!!

2. Do something with my hair. I need to do something now before I see Cheryl and chop it all off.

3. You can never have enough headbands. Never.
DIY headband. Could also make with fleece to keep your ears warm.
4. Chad would be so happy if I wore any makeup. Poor guy. I'd like to try this out since I feel like you can never see what color eye shadow I'm wearing.

5. Much like I'm searching for a recipe close to Panera's chocolate chip cookies, I'm also looking for a sugar cookie recipe that's close to either the Clarkston Bakeries or Swig. I'll let you know if I find either one :)

Let me know if they've worked out for you or if you've had other Pinterest successes lately!!!

Five {Things} Friday

1. I'm finally feeling better. After lots of McDonald's shakes, Benadryl, vitamin C, and SLEEP, I am finally over whatever hell of a cold I had. I am also back to staying up later than 8:30, which makes Chad happy.

2. What Not to Wear is on Netflix. It's only one season but it's a season I haven't seen and I am blowing through them and loving every minute. Also, who wants to take me shopping?

3. My toilet attacked me this morning. Aaaaand the downstairs toilet is having it's own set of problems as well. Yikes.

4. Chad finally found a Christmas sweater last night at TJMaxx. We've only been looking for one that was cute and affordable for two years now, no biggie. Now to find one for me...

5. It's hot cocoa season!!!! And since we are, season wise, a good month or two behind everyone else right now, it's also finally looking like Fall, apple cider season!!! Game plan for the weekend: Homemade Starbucks apple cider with as many donuts as we can find. Maybe an apple crisp as well, just for good measure.

Five {Things} Friday

1. Stretchy pants are the bomb dot com. If you need a pair of leggings that aren't totally see through and fall apart after 5 wears check out Costco, Matty M brand. They are super comfy, really stretchy, thick, and have a wider waistband. I plan on living in my 2 pairs until it's 100° again.

2. The Walking Dead is back to fill the void that Breaking Bad left. We watched the season premiere while eating dinner this week.... not the best of combinations.

3. Penny has become infatuated with watching animal planet. She sits right in front of the tv and tries to paw at the birds and jackals. It's seriously the funniest thing I've ever seen. On top of that, she then tries to figure out where all the animals are hiding, behind the tv or underneath the tv table. She just wants to play with all the lions so bad. Maybe if she watches a show with bears she'll warm up to the idea of playing with Rukia.

4. We had three types of dessert bread in our house this week. Banana bread, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins, and Cranberry Orange bread. I love it when I can eat dessert all week long for breakfast!

5. Ash and Pat are here! We've got a full weekend of awesome ahead of us!

Shotgun!

Now that it's not a million degrees outside we can start up Chad's favorite sport again.

We went out to Shotgun Alley last Friday night and climbed away. Rukia had a ball splashing through the river and we had some gorgeous scenery! All that rain has really greened up the desert. Chad climbed like a champ even though we haven't really been all summer, and I climbed a bit without breaking into hysterical tears, that's a definite win in my book.

Five {Things} Friday

1. Why is it that when we take our car in to get something fixed we leave with something else wrong. Chad's taking it back to the mechanic to see why our little yellow gem is now making new noises.

2. The summer of poorness is over and I have no idea what to make for dinner. Now that we can afford to eat more than pancakes, spaghetti, and beans.... what the heck do we make? Any suggestions are very welcomed!

3. Walking around Target last night I almost lost it when Chad referred to his own underwear as panties. I was sooo tired.... and come on, panties? I was crying.

4. One of the Relief Society secretaries in our ward served her mission in Detroit. She was there when our beloved Clarkston ward was first formed and knows many of the long time members. I instantly liked her and now want to become best friends.

5. I had an energy drink and pop tarts for breakfast this morning so I could handle the crazy hectic morning. Oh wait, we had no patients this morning and I instead spent too much time on pinterest. I had pop tarts and NOS because it's full of delicious sugar and caffeine. Happy Friday to me.

Five {Confessions} Friday

1. I cannot spell the word definitely. Can't do it. I usually spell it so wrong that spell check can't figure out what I'm trying to do. I really consider it a success when I spell it just close enough that spell check catches on the first try and I don't have to go through multiple wrong spellings that just get further and further from right.

D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y

2. I could eat soup every day, all day. It's yummy and delicious and I crave it even when it's over 100 degrees outside.

3. I get bored with my handwriting and change it every so often. Slanted, all caps, all lowercase, cursive, straight up and down, big and girly... This has caused problems only once, maybe twice. In Hawaii they wouldn't accept my signature on a credit card purchase because it didn't match. I literally had to cross it out and try again. Yeah, cause that makes sense. I had to think back on how I used to sign my name to do my absentee ballot, they said that they wouldn't count the ballots where the signatures didn't match the ones on file. Not quite sure I was able to do that... Never knew signing my name could be so difficult...

4. If I don't know the number that's calling my phone I don't answer. Period. Chalk it up to some bad experiences but there are literally no exceptions to this rule.

5. I am super excited about NOT having a White Christmas! Sure it's all festive and beautiful, blah, blah, blah. I for one have had enough snow. It's cold, it's wet, it's icy, it's sucky. I will be enjoying my colder weather with palm trees, blue skies and beautiful red rock!

Do you have any confessions? ;)

Five Things {I've learned from Fashion Blogs} Friday

In all my days of fashion blog stalking I've learned a few things:

1. Put a belt on it! I've come to the conclusion that pretty much everything looks great with a belt. If your outfit is in a sad state just slap a belt on that puppy and that'll fix your problem 90% of the time.

2. You can never have too many cardigans.

3. Buns are your saving grace if you hate washing your hair, hate brushing your hair, hate doing your hair, can't bear to wear your hair down due to excruciating heat, or any combination of the above. I happen to fall into every one of these categories and am overly excited that my short hair is just long enough to swing this look again. Especially since I have 9am church.

Hello belt, cardigan and bun!
4. You don't need to spend a ton of money to look great. Is it fun? Sure, who doesn't like shopping? Is it easier if you have a larger shopping budget, um.. yeah. But you don't have to. I have found lots of my favorite items at thrift stores and I'm finding that a lot of the fun comes from remixing what you already have. Wearing old items in new or unexpected ways to create new looks. This is definitely something I'm working on and trying to get better at.

Thrifted pants and shirt!
5. If YOU like it and YOU think it looks great, by all means wear it! Who cares what I think, or the random lady at the grocery store, or commenter #12 on your blog. If you like it and it makes you feel great then wear it. Style and Fashion is all about self expression and dressing to make you feel like a million bucks.

Just Kidding. This does not make me feel like a million bucks! But we are addicted to the cartoon Adventure Time and totally need these shirts! In our size of course :)

What other favorite tips or tricks are do you have? As someone who is trying to break her scrub wearing habit I would love to hear them! :)
