Sunday Dress

If I had a Christmas party to go to here's what you'd find me in! I would love to have a sparkly gold skirt, or green! Or a sparkly shirt, love me some sequins. But I don't. In fact as I was looking for something Christmasy I realized I don't have much green... or red.... I've got plenty of every other color but not a whole lot of Christmas going on. I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with though, a Christmas outfit all from my little ol' closet, no shopping required.

Sunday Dress

If there's an official uniform for fall this is it. Dark jeans with a plaid shirt and army green jacket? Check, check and check! The only thing we are missing here are some gorgeous fall colors. We do have some through town but nothing like I want, where are the reds?! :) But if that means we keep winter at bay I'll take it, I'll take it all day.

Sunday Dress with eShakti

eShakti, a tall Mormon girl's dream come true. Seriously.

knee legnth, lava rock, red rock, mountains, southern utah, st george, utah, kate spade, belt, blonde, pixie

The beauty of eShakti is that everything is customizable. All of it. And they carry size 0-36. There is literally something for everyone. And, I'll say it again, this is a tall girls best friend. I put in my height (5'10") and chose the knee length option (this dress had a shorter option as well). I'm always having to hunt for a dress that's long enough to cover up my bum so I was a little skeptical of how it would turn out. My "hunts" usually end in spectacular defeat and a pair of leggings. eShakti hooked me up though, there was, clearly, nothing to worry about. Bum covered, check!

I also added cap sleeves to the once sleeveless dress. You can add sleeves! No longer do you have to wait until winter to try to find a dress with some kind of sleeve! Can I get an "amen!" from all my Mormon friends out there. I am not a fan of the shirt under the dress option so being able to add all different kinds of sleeve lengths to dresses is a dream come true.

Beyond having sleeve and dress length options you can also enter all your measurements and they will customize the dress to your exact figure. I didn't opt for this due to all of my weird water weight but it is such a killer option for an awesome price.

With Christmas coming up this would make such a beautiful and special gift. I know I sound like a broken record by now, but seriously, there's something for every body shape and for any occasion. Short, Tall, Young, Old, Fancy Date nights, Sister Missionary appropriate, Christmas Parties, or Casual Mom on the go. Check 'em out and then we can gush about them together.

Need another reason to try 'em out, Enter 'twolovebirdswithoutanest' at the checkout and receive an extra 10% off, offer is good through December 17th! You may not even need that with the 40% off sale going on right now though ;)

90 and counting

It's getting hot in heeeere.

The whole getting dressed like a presentable human being thing has been a little lacking. The sun has been out and we are heating up fast. Which means...

more running
more walks with the pup
more hiking
more rock climbing

A lot more athletic wear and a lot less real clothes. Which really makes me one happy girl.

Here's a rare instance when I decided to get dressed. Here's to the summertime!

Sunday Dress

Skirt: F21, Cardigan & Shoes: Target, Necklace: Aldo

Happy Easter!

We are celebrating by sleeping in, eating lots of sugary food and lounging in our p.j.'s all day. And just to make all my Michiganders jealous... it really was too hot to be wearing this cardigan today. We are dangerously close to the time of year when any clothes are too many clothes. I'll let you guess whose favorite time of year that is. And on that note, I hope you all have a swell Easter :)

Sunday Dress

Shirt, Skirt, Belt: Thrifted, Shoes: Charlotte Russe

Sometimes we stay up too late watching movies and eating ice cream.
Sometimes Chad decides to clean the whole house by himself.
Sometimes he then goes on to do all the laundry too.
Sometime we spend our whole Saturday night skyping with family.
Sometimes I wake up sandwiched between my hubby and my doggy.
Sometimes thrifting is just a nightmare with endless sloppy clothes that should be tossed.
Sometimes thrifting is a dream come true and I leave with gems like this skirt, belt and shirt.

Sunday Dress

Happy Monday! While the rest of the world is at home sleeping in, making pancakes, playing in the snow and napping, I am at work. To make matters worse the Dr. said if he knew how s-l-o-w of a day we had he would have just canceled and we all could have stayed home. Would-a, Should-a, Could-a. That of course made today even more unbearable, knowing I could have been home under my heated blanket snuggled up with the fur babies and Chad.

Sunday was a recovery day. Recovery from last week and recovery from my birthday surprise on Saturday. After church in the morning, lunch, and playing with the camera for a while we napped. And when I say napped, I mean slept. Because when you sleep from 4:30 to 9:30 you can't consider that a nap anymore. We had a glorious dinner of corn pops when we woke at 9:30, let the dog out and then headed up to bed to fall back asleep.

You would think after a million hours of sleep I would have been ready to go this morning. You of course would be wrong. I am tired and I am working... but I also have another gift certificate to a restaurant in my pocket and new birthday boots on my feet. So, really, I guess this Monday isn't that bad at all.

Sunday Dress

Chad surprised me with these rockin' yellow tights in my stocking for Christmas! Yellow is my favorite color so I was stoked. Also super exciting? My new hat that was also part of my "stocking" presents from him.

Yesterday we headed down to Vegas. We weren't able to get each other Christmas presents before Christmas so we decided to go after! We spent the whole day shopping around the city and took advantage of all the post-Christmas sales. It worked out real well. I ended up with this lacy blue dress and another lovely shirt. Chad got an awesome new bag for school and for his camera, and a stylin' new pair of boots for only $20. Can't beat that my friends.

Since my birthday is also coming up Chad bought my present for that as well! I may or may not have worn my birthday present around the rest of the night ;) I'll show you all my lovely gift when my b-day actually rolls around. Clearly we aren't very good at surprise gifts. For stockings this year we each headed into Target with a budget, went our separate ways, met at the front of the store and hid our purchases from each other all the way home. Then we immediately ran inside and showed each other what we had found! It's how we roll.

Sunday Dress

Dress: WalMart, Shoes: Target, Necklace: random store in the mall
It was a great Sunday. Perfect really. We slept in, I surprised Chad with his half birthday party, and we ate cake and nachos. We made Christmas cards, watched too much tv and just relaxed. I also decided to dress like it's springtime in my pretty little dress from... drum-roll... WalMart. Ta-da! My mom bought me this little pretty when she was here visiting. It quickly has become my favorite dress, so you bet I will be wearing it whether it's spring, summer, fall or winter!

Do you have a favorite article of clothing you wear despite the weather?

Sunday Dress

Dress: Target, Leggings: Target, Shoes: Snatched from my sister :)

Introducing.... The Pajama Dress!!!

No, not a sweat dress....

a Pajama Dress! A dress so ridiculously comfortable that it rivals your pajamas. For me it's this guy, made out of stretchy, comfy t-shirt material. It's long enough, forgiving enough, it's perfect.

Wearing uncomfortable tights is not allowed with the pajama dress, but super awesome stretchy leggings are definitely ok ;)

Best part about this dress? I got it on sale in the maternity section at Target. Bam! That's right, the maternity section! This place is a gold mine people. Especially if you don't live in Utah where everyone is preggo. Target's maternity sale section  >  Utah's.

I'm 5'10" so finding dresses that approaches my knee is difficult. During the summer it's impossible. But... maternity dresses are usually longer not to mention more comfortable. And as long as there's no side, belly ruching, you usually can't tell. Just get it a size or two smaller and your good to go!

Sunday Dress

Top and Skirt: DownEast Outfitters, Shoes: Target
I was lucky enough this weekend to stop into DownEast Outfitters where they were having a 50% off their clearance sale. Boom! Love that. My happy self left with 2 new skirts and a new lacy top that I wore not just Sunday, but Saturday as well. Because isn't that what we all do? Wear our favorite new piece of clothing until it become socially unacceptable to wear it another day in a row?

Sunday Dress

Dress, Cardigan & Shoes: Target, Earrings: F21, Belt: DownEast Outfitters

Chad brought me home a little surprise last week, this super fun leaf belt. I couldn't wait to wear it. I thought it might jazz up my plain, (somewhat) shapeless dress. Especially when wearing a cardigan over top, this dress needed some help, bad.

Purple Leaf Belt to the rescue! Why hello there Mr, Belt. Where have you been all my life?! Am I the last person on earth to realize that belts are really my best friend? Not only are they functional but they really can change up the entire look of an outfit. I'm so glad we've found each other.

Sunday Dress

Shirt: TJMaxx,  Skirt: H&M,  Shoes: Target

Sunday is the one day of the week that I get an opportunity to dress up. Not just dress in my "dressy" jeans, but actually pull out a dress and some heels and look good. Heels and I aren't exactly BFF's so they are definitely a Sunday Only item. I can get through about three hours of wearing them, especially if I'm sitting down, but that's about it.

"Danielle, your young, your newly married, you have no kids! You can dress up and go out anytime you like!"

And go to Chuck-o-rama? Applebees? Ooooh, I know, Target! Our options are pretty limited in a small town of where to go once you actually get dressed up. So for now I'll focus on turning up the volume on Sundays and really knocking the socks of those nursery kids!
