Easy like Sunday Afternoon

After church we decided to get outside and enjoy the few hours of sunshine that were left. The trees finally got the fall memo and while a few decided just to drop their leaves right off the bat, some decided to put on a show. We miss Michigan falls but we do love that we can still do things like this at the end of November.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Finn the Human Climbs!

St. George decided to be quite mean to us this weekend. It rained on us for three straight days. Those of you in snow can stop laughing at me now. I have become very accustom to sunshine and warmth all day every day.

We had made plans this weekend to climb our little hearts out and you really can't climb wet, slippery rock. It's hard enough when it's dry. So we had a Friday date night at home instead that basically included handstands, learning new knots and teaching me the basics of lead climbing.

Saturday continued to pour on us so we turned to cookies for comfort. We had two visitors that were more than happy to play video games and eat cookies.

Then blessed Sunday rolled around with all it's sunshiny glory and we headed out to the rocks! We made up for being inside all weekend by climbing for 7 hours. We were one of the first people out there and one of the very last to leave. We started in multiple layers and hats, stripped down to tank tops and then ended in all our layers again.

Chad climbed a ton of pitches since he has to set up a top rope for me and then clean it after I climb. I climbed my first little overhang and crack. It was amazing and exhausting and I can't wait for the long weekend to get here so we can climb some more!

After we hiked out of the gorge we saw this beauty. It was a gorgeous way to end our day. We really are lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Chad may have not learned the whole "wear shoes" lesson. Clearly his toe is feeling better.

Awkward:
  • An 85 year old man loved my scrub top so much he challenged me to dual over it. Specifically, a wrestling match.
  • A dad having his little boy pee outside.... our office building.... next to a 5 lane highway. We have public restrooms dad, and if you didn't think we did, there is a gas station right next to us, and an Arby's next to that. All kinds of options besides making you kid pee onto a highway with absolutely no tree/bush/rock cover.
  • The same man who wanted to wrestle me told me to "stay sweet" as he was leaving. Another woman kept going on and on about how pretty I was. All this made up for the old lady who called me an M*#%* F#$^&ing Son of a B*^#. Woah. Just Woah. What did I do to deserve the wrath of the Crazy Lady, I said hello.
 Awesome:
  • Rukia's haircut. We no longer have our big bear of a dog. She's been replaced by a skinny, little petite thing that has suddenly become very agile and very snuggly. I guess it's cold without that fur coat.
  • I climbed my first 5.9 last weekend and then climbed another one yesterday, twice. I know that you all have no idea what that means but I'm super proud of myself and can't wait to go climbing this weekend!
  • Candy Drawers. Restocked Candy Drawers.
  • Wearing leggings as pants and not caring at all about if I should or not. They are awesome, end of story.

Chicken Shoes

We picked up a rotisserie chicken from Costco Sunday night. There is nothing easier and better than that! Chicken sandwiches Sunday night, for lunches, and more chicken for dinner this week!

Rukia was even more excited about it than we were. We opened up the lid and she came running, sitting pretty with her tail wagging. Apparently chicken smells better than the carrots she ignores. Who would have thought?

Penny was equally ridiculous, sniffing and licking the chicken thoroughly before inhaling giant pieces all in one bite. After getting Rukia to do a number of crazy tricks for a bunch of chicken we sat down and ate our dinner. Then we noticed Rukia and Penny laying down next to each other, very strange for them, near Chad's flip flops. A lone piece of chicken had fallen on to his shoe.

Penny was too afraid to eat it with Rukia sitting there and Rukia knows that she's not allowed to touch shoes. It was hilarious. They just sat there staring at it and each other. Finally we told Rukia she could get it.

About a half hour later we see her doing the most ridiculous thing. She's all the way in our pantry closet sniffing around. Is there a bug, is Penny in there, what is she doing? Ooooohhh. She's checking all of our shoes for chicken! After checking the closet she went around the whole living room inspecting all the shoes for more chicken. No such luck pup, we don't usually misplace chicken in our shoes.

In other news Penny now throws a giant fit every time we make something in the kitchen. Apparently she is also wanting some more chicken out of us. Heaven forbid we use the can opener, all hell breaks loose because we are obviously opening a can of tuna fish. Cry all you want fur babies, the chicken's gone.

Awkward and Awesome Rukia

Oh Rukia. We have made her into such a "special" little pup.

She hates her food. HATES it. She'll run over as I'm pouring in some food and sit. Once I tell her to "eat" she slowly meanders over to the bowl, sniffs it, and then walks away. "Yeeeeaaaah... no thank you". That's what we get for buying the food that's made out of actual meat and vegetables and not just corn.

Of course as soon as Penny even thinks about going over to eat her food, Rukia races over to her food bowl to guard it from her. Because Penny is all about eating Rukia's food, um no, never. Keep in mind she doesn't actually start eating her food, just guards it.

I will say however, that it is awesome that we can put both their food bowls next to each other with a big bowl of water and they won't touch each other's food. Never before have I ever heard of a dog not devouring the cat's food as soon as they could. So thank you for that Rukia. Or should I say, thank you Chad, for putting the fear of God into her about that and eating shoes.

So then I feel bad that she's not eating and try to trick her into it with cheese. I've tried sprinkling the shredded cheese on her food, thinking that it would be too hard to just get the cheese without eating the food along with it. Wrong. Home girl is talented. She just carefully licks up all the cheese.

So along with her horrible eating habits, she's seriously eating a days worth of food over the course of 2 or 3 days, she's also getting terribly lazy. I wonder why?

I'm still going strong with about 3 early morning walks per week (self high five!) and am dragging Rukia along with me. That's right, I'm having to drag her out of the house to go on walks.

My high energy, crazy dog is a sleepy, lazy, dead to the world pup in the morning. I have to yell at her to come down the stairs in the morning. "Wanna go on a walk? Let's go outside!!!" is met with her laying her head back down and ignoring me. Just saying "walk" and "outside" usually ends with her assaulting me and running sprints around the room in excitement, unless it's before noon apparently.

This morning I finally got her to come downstairs and she laid by the door as I put on my shoes and grabbed the leash. By the time I turned around she had snuck back upstairs and was laying down, hiding in the corner. Seriously? Poor Rukia gets to go on walks all the time now.

Maybe if she ate something she wouldn't be so freaking lethargic all morning.

In all honesty though she fits well in our family. We might be known to enjoy sleeping in and hating the morning with a passion.

Also, this is just another reason there are no babies at our house. I can't even get my dog to eat her food, I can't imagine trying to convince a small child to eat their vegetables.

A love note

to Rukia. ha!

I've said it multiple times that when I picture myself in the future Chad and I have a nice little house with a huge yard. Acres and acres of land.... for our dogs. I would love to have my own little herd of dogs. A Doberman, another golden doodle, a weimaraner, a couple great danes, and maybe a vizsla. I like my dogs, and I like them big.

As of yet there are no children in my visions of the future... sorry mom :)

So here's a little Pinterest inspired love note to my most favorite of dogs, The Rukers.
#puppies haha I love this

While the cat's away...

Chad had the wonderful opportunity to go up to boy scout camp for the last half of the week. Not only is he thrilled to be camping for 3 nights in the rain, he is super stoked about all the merit badges that will be happening ;)

And while he is partying at camp, I get to party at home solo style. Which means falling asleep at 8 o'clock to Netflix and eating mine + Chad's share of cookies.

The only glitch was at 1 am when Rukia decides to start barking and running around like crazy because she heard something. Yeah, she didn't actually hear anything but that didn't stop me from creeping downstairs ninja style to search the whole house before going back to sleep.

Up on the schedule for tonight. Visiting teachers, popcorn for dinner, and hopefully a nice long walk with the pup. That's only if I can manage to stay awake that long though.

goodnight

Right Now

Right now I am....

Hating my stupid, cracked, dying phone. It won't hold it's charge if I decide to occasionally use it throughout the day. And that's not including the times that it refuses to charge at all when it's plugged in. The camera on it's stupid and the smashed front doesn't help either, but that one is my bad. Can't wait to be able to get a new one.

Watching old episodes of Project Runway at work. While the doctors away.... Don't worry, I will be paying for it with tomorrow's schedule.

Feeling sorry for the poor pup. Rukia has ear mites. Her ears are s-t-i-n-k-y. They are red, they have black and brown goop in them, it's a nasty situation. So the poor pup is shaking her head every 5 seconds and being super needy since she is feeling sicky. We are armed with Hydrogen Peroxide, Mineral Oil, Vitamin C powder and Vitamin E. So hopefully she will be feeling better soon.

Confused as to why eating Smacks cereal makes my pee smell like Smacks. It's gross.

Excited to go home and bake banana bread and chocolate chip cookies, but mostly excited about the oreo cupcake that my boss got me for lunch! Mmmmm

Dreading doing AbRipper tonight. I know it's only 15 mintues but it is the Worst.

Welcome, Welcome Sabbath Morning

Our morning started bright and early at 5:30. Miss barky pants, aka Rukia, started to whine and cry. Now this is nothing too new. If we both happen to wake up in the morning and she sees this she will start to whine a little. She wants to play, go outside, go potty or just jump into the bed with us.

As for the "hair free zone" Rukia has wiggled her way back into our room. She sleeps on the floor though and it has worked out nicely. Anyone with a golden doodle will tell you that they don't do well if they can't be with you. She follows us from room to room and won't go outside and play on the patio with the cats unless we are there. She's a people dog. Anyways... back to this morning.

So as usual, we petted her a little then Chad kicked her out of the room so she could huff and puff on her own, get bored, and then go back to sleep smashed up against our bedroom door. Instead the lovely aroma off poop wafted into our room 2 minutes later. Apparently home girl wasn't kidding with all that whining. But that's what happens when you've been crying wolf.

So at 5:45 we are cleaning up dog poo, washing the carpet, taking her outside to poo some more and trying to get the poo smell out of room. In all fairness, Chad was mostly in charge of this while I sleepily watched and stood around.

But wait.... there's more. Mad that I was up at 5:45 with dog poop all over our stairs, I decided to sleep in as long as possible. The sun was shining through our windows, birds chirping and the breeze was perfect. Finally I peeled my butt out of bed around 11. I stumbled into our bathroom and stepped into... dog vomit. But not just vomit. Dog throw up that had been covered up by the bathroom rug. Our poor pup feels so bad when she gets sick in the house now (diarrhea, vomit, poo) that if she's given enough time she will try to hide it.

I see her curled up in the corner by the stairs giving me the saddest puppy dog eyes and between the eyes and the cover up attempt I can't manage to be mad at the poor sick girl. So I start a load of laundry and throw in the two rugs from the bathroom, clean up the vomit that's covering the bathroom floor and take her outside to poo some more. Because there's nothing worse than cleaning up diarrhea off carpeting. Or maybe there is, I don't know, I'm not a mom, just a fur-mom. We head back inside where I then have to wipe her poopy butt like a little baby, proceeding to get more poo all over me again.

So congratulations to all of you with kids out there, you can stop laughing now :)  I really don't know how you handle all the sick kids you have... or the potty training... or the bed wetting...  or any of that really. Because I can barely handle my dog.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
  • Chad's been telling me to go get my hair done since January. January people. But that would require actually finding someone to do my hair, and then paying for it, and then crossing my fingers that this new person actually knows what they are doing and worth the ridiculous amount of money they always charge. Who in the world ignores their husband when he tells them to go out and get their hair (and even nails) done? This girl.
  • Taking Rukia running with me and having to drag her along the sidewalk. I finally look back at her to see what the freak is going on and find her squatting as I'm pulling her along, leaving a little (ok, not so little) trail of poo.
  • Wanting to tell the woman hiking behind us with her 4 small children that the "worst that can happen" is that her kids (who were nervous to keep going on the sloping rock) will slip and fall on the rocks, hit their head on said rocks, pass out and then drown in the river since she "can't help them" because she's holding a baby. I kept that awkwardness to myself though and let the kids believe their mother who told them that the worst that would happen is they would get a little wet from the river.
  • The amount of past Top Chef episodes we have been watching.
Awesome:
  • New makeup. I never get new makeup. So while Chad helped out with a church activity on Wednesday night, I ran over to Target, got completely overwhelmed, but found a few things to spruce up my face. Side note: why have I never owned a brow pencil until now? Miraculous.
  • Running outside! So happy that it's warm and sunny! My freckles are back :)
  • JT's new album. Awe-some. It's been playing non stop since we got it.
  • Ash and Pat and Vegas this weekend! Don't be jealous.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:

  • Dances at BYU. Holy cow there was just so much to watch. First, the "chaperones" that looked like they were all of 12 years old wandering around with light wands waving them at people. Second the guy in the coonskin hat. He had some killer moves. He just danced around all by himself, at one point he stole some guys date to dance with and near the end of the night I'm pretty sure Chad found himself in a dance off with him. There was no beating Chad though, he was on fire.
  • Speaking of fire... sitting down to use the potty only to have my bum catch on fire. Chad was nice enough to clean the toilets, just not nice enough to warn me he wasn't done. Sitting down in acid is no fun my friends, just in case you couldn't figure that one out on your own.
  • Stopping at a garage sale where they were selling crappy pallet furniture that they made and then let a 2 year old paint. They were trying to sell this craptastic "furniture" for hundreds of dollars. Nope, I don't need a coffee table with a hidden door painted like the rainbow for $200, no thanks.
  • Rukia getting so excited to be at the tiny little dog park by us that she pooed all over herself. We let her run around for a hot second but then were too embarrassed by Miss Poo Butt to stay there. Don't even ask about the car ride home.
Awesome:
  • BYU dances
  • Coupons for ice cream. Eating said ice cream for breakfast.
  • An extra hour of sunshine! Now I don't feel like I need to go to bed at 8pm.
  • Chad's been able to sleep in all week!
  • SUSHI.
  • It was 82 degrees yesterday. 82. While super awesome, I am starting to get nervous that I will die in the crazy heat this summer, for reals.

Operation: Hair Free Zone

Chad had a beautiful, wonderful, marvelous idea this weekend. Get these animals and all of their hair out of our bedroom!

I did not have animals growing up, so when Chad and I got married and all of a sudden there was this furry creature sleeping next to my face, it was kinda gross. Sunny is not a curl up on the end of the bed and purr kind of cat. He's a "I'm gonna sleep on your face and suffocate you in the night" kinda cat. Cute right? Took some getting used to. Also, he was very used to sleeping with Chad, so he was less than thrilled that I was now there taking "his" place. More than once he has woken me up in the middle of the night pawing at my face, licking my face, sleeping on my face or just sitting and staring at me like he's planning out my murder. More than once I have picked him up and thrown placed him gingerly across the room off the bed.

Then we got Rukia. She was a wild and crazy pup. She was always so hyper and wound up that she could only ever sleep when we put her in her kennel. We tried to snuggle with our new little puppy but she was having none of it. As she's gotten older she's mellowed out (a bit) and has become rather snuggly... ok needy. Her favorite spot to sleep is at the foot of the bed. And while that doesn't sound too bad, having a 60ish pound dog sprawled out on her back at the "foot" of the bed, really means she is taking up the whole bottom half of our bed.

Then we got Penny. Whose favorite thing in the world is also to sleep next to our faces.

Combine their sleeping patterns with all the lovely animal hair and we had had enough. Especially with all the open mouth sleeping that's been going on lately thanks to being sick. Cat hair on your clothes is annoying, cat hair in the mouth is super gross town.

So this weekend we cleaned our room, washed all the bedding, washed the rug, dusted and vacuumed. I would quickly like to point out that the vacuuming took place after 1am, take that Brittany! Then we kicked all the animals out... and the crying started.

Sunny could care less, as long as he has food and water he is fine snuggled up on a chair downstairs with a fluffy blanket. Penny and Rukia have been sleeping slammed up against our door. Penny meows and cries, while Rukia huffs and puffs right along with her. Poor baby girls.

And while Penny and Rukia cry, Chad and I are reveling in our hair free, uninterrupted sleep! We'll see how long we last against the whining and sad pouty faces though.

Four {Confessions} Friday

1. Bunheads is awesome. And while it's no Gilmore Girls, it does help fill that void.

2. Ice Cream helps my upset stomach. It really does. Chad thinks I just want to eat ice cream, which, hello, I do. But it makes my tummy feel better when it's angry with me. Double win.

3. Does anyone else find it strange that The Biggest Loser is 2 freakin' hours long? They want me to watch, but then they yell at me for watching tv for hours. Um, anyone else confused? Regardless I'm addicted. Crossing my fingers that this season isn't a giant, disappointing, mess of a season like last year. At the very least at least I'll get to watch Jillian make grown men cry, and that my friends, is always a good time.

4. My dog follows me everywhere when I'm home. Seriously. Everywhere. She'll be sleeping and I'll walk the ten feet from my couch into the kitchen, all of a sudden she's there. She'll be sleeping and I'll try to sneak upstairs. Nope. She's only two steps behind me. She's also super jealous of the phone and anytime I use it she is all up in my face trying to get me to play with her. She may be crazy and super needy but she's an awesome pup and we love her!

Anyone brave enough to share some confessions of their own?

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Who wore it better?

What happens when I skip a Thursday of Awkward and Awesome?  The awkwardness multiplies!
Awkward:
  • Driving to California with Rukia refusing to be anywhere but on top of me or Chad. We were prepared to share the backseat with her on the ride, but not the fact that she would want to snuggle the whole way there.... and back.
  • Resorting to cutting off the top of my banana with scissors because I couldn't get into that stupid thing for the life of me and there were no knives at work. BAH!
  • Doggie diarrhea. That's what happens when your dog steals the whole can of tuna from the kitties. Not pretty. At least she has the courtesy in the dead of night to whine and lick my face to get me up and let her out instead of just "going" everywhere.
  • Chad accidentally buzzing off his side burns. He's gonna love that I put this on here :)
  • My visiting teachers came over a few weeks ago and as soon as they left I ran upstairs to change into stretchy pants and a t-shirt. Because my old worn out jeans are so restricting? Anyways, as soon as I get everything off there's a knock on the door and our home teachers decided to stop by. Chad ran Rukia upstairs to keep in our room and just laughed at me. Back into the jeans I went!
  • Before Thanksgiving patients kept asking me what my plans were. I would excitedly tell them that we were going to California. They would then ask where. I would shake my head and sheepishly admit that I had no idea, I just knew we were leaving the desert, going to the beach and eating lots of Mexican food in addition to Thanksgiving. Isn't that all anyone needs to know to agree to a road trip?
  • Stopping to use the bathroom at Subway and getting harassed by a tiny Asian lady my age. I went into the stall after her and she started knocking like crazy asking for her "bell". Huh? I quickly finished (give me a second lady!) and as soon as I came out she ran in. Clearly she lost her "bell". I washed my hands and she proceeded to yell at me about the "bell" and want me to look for it with her in the tiny bathroom full of women. I tried to leave and she pulled me back in. What the what? Clearly she thought I stole her "bell".  Finally another lady pointed to a belt under the sink and she finally let me go. I'm glad she could figure out what the crazy borderline abusive woman wanted because I was clearly no help. No need to apologize crazy pants.
  • The doctors license plates in our parking lot. Seriously guys, it's not funny or witty or whatever it is that you're going for.
My doctor: Toejam (ewww, gross)
Plastic surgeon: FixIt
  • We have new neighbors. Brittany came over to ask for our Wi-Fi password so they can use ours until they get theirs. She proceeded to then tell me all about how she lives with her baby daddy, they were high school sweethearts and got married when she got pregnant. But a year and a half ago they got divorced, but they still live together because of their baby. But they have separate rooms. Except now she's now 9 weeks pregnant. At this point she tosses her cigarette on the ground. And I am left with no words. Um.... nice to meet you?
Awesome:
  • The ocean
  • Not having to drive a single minute on the ride out to California and back, Thanks Pat!
  • Testing out massage chairs at Bed Bath and Beyond
  • Starbucks hot apple cider
  • Peppermint coffee creamer in hot chocolate
  • The movie, Just Friends. OMG, why don't I watch this movie everyday of my life. "Watch your face!"
  • Having to decorate the office for Christmas. Wednesday was a strenous day peeps.
  • We were behind the most annoying group of people at Cafe Rio. I won't go on and on becasuse... once we got up to pay, the worst offender gave us his meal stamp and we got our meal for free! Thanks super annoying line jumping dude, you made our night!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Poor Rukia was such a matted mess from all the camping and running around this summer that we had to cut her hair in shifts, she would get tired, we would get tired or we would have to buy new clippers because her hair kills them! So she ran around looking like a darn fool with itty bitty little front legs and giant fluffy back bear legs. Luckily we've got her all evened out now!

Awkward:
  • Driving in the parking lot of the grocery store next to the store and watching a shopping cart with a baby in it roll out into the parking lot.... right in front of us. Luckily we were paying attention. The dad and sister both ran out after the poor baby. We just laughed and waved while the dad looked mortified. I'd be lying if I said I don't enjoy watching awkward things happen to other people ;)
  • Picking the size sticker off of one of Chad's shirts while we were out to dinner. He had worn and washed  the shirt multiple times.
  • Trying to figure out what the heck these weird fruits/vegetables were in our Bountiful Harvest baskets. I tested my mom and brother with pictures and we still were stumped. Finally my mom figured out they were black radishes after seeing them on an episode of Chopped! Thanks Chopped! Still doesn't help me figure out what to do with them though.
  • Becoming addicted to Frasier on Netflix. Frasier? Yup.
  • Watching a guy struggle to bike up a hill/mountain on the side of the road, smoking.
  • The leaves are still green and it was 80 degrees yesterday. Eighty. I'm freaking out. While it's nice to not have to wear a snowsuit in October, I can't wrap my brain around the fact that today is November! We will be taking trip #2 to try to find Fall this weekend. Wish us luck!

Awesome:
  • My husband bringing up a jar of peanut butter, the bag of chocolate chips and a spoon to bed. Mmmm.
  • Chad showing up at the testing center to take a test and they told him they didn't have it! Huh?! While he'll eventually have to take it, it was a nice ending to a hectic day!
  • Finding semi decent apple cider at WalMart.
  • No Dr. toady or tomorrow!
  • Sleeping in until noon on the weekends :)
  • Hiding from Trick-or-Treaters and eating all the candy ourselves! While I may not be able to go trick-or-treating I can now go out and buy whatever candy I want and eat it all!!! Bah-ha-ha-ha!

Pranks

Starting around 7pm Friday night we started getting ridiculous knocks on our door. I would corral the puppy and Chad would go to the door and.... surprise!.... no one would be there. After the third time Chad turned off all our lights, opened the door and sat in the opening with a glass of water. Don't prank the prankster.

Unfortunately they had moved on at that point. But it started up again around 9. By this time we knew it was some Young Men from church having some fun with their leader. Since we are both really feel like teenagers still we decided to play along. We left a little present in their car, ahem, Rukia left a little present in their car (It was in a bag, we aren't that mean). And after that went back and forth, the water came back out and Chad raced all over our complex with 3 teenage boys trying their darnedest to catch him. Never happened. Don't prank the prankster kids.

We couldn't do anything too wild and crazy, we are the "adults" in this situation after all, so here's how it ended:

Cotton balls were really the only thing we had in our house. We were working with nothin'!

Then it started again. Because while we still feel like teenagers, they actually are teenagers. Which means they have way more time on their hands, get bored easily and have no interest in watching the presidential debate.

So while we attempted to watch the debate, clean up from dinner, cut the pups hair, and blog, this was happening outside. Yes, we heard it. Yes, we were smart enough to stay inside while the crazy occurred. I was NOT getting hit in the face with a water balloon.

Chad attempted to get them with a bowl full of water. It didn't happen. We were at a real disadvantage. We had nothing to work with. Chad gave it his all with the bowl but ended up breaking it in the end.

So while we won the first round, they definitely won the second. And now the balls in our court. And while my inner teenager wants to do something awesome, my inner adult knows that these kids have got us beat in the time and boredom category. But when have we ever acted like adults... :)

"Fall" & Meatless Monday: Banana Bread

Sunday afternoon we decided that if Fall wasn't going to come to us then we would just go to Fall! We packed up a picnic, grabbed our cameras and dog and headed out to Cedar City, about an hour north.

Apparently Fall has come and gone for Cedar City. It was a giant fail. We still had a picnic by the river, Rukia ran around to her hearts content and we snapped a few pictures anyways.

Need something to make your Monday better? This will definitely do the trick! I made 2 loaves of Banana Bread last week and threw one in the freezer for this week. I broke that guy out of the freezer on Wednesday and it was finished up on Saturday. We love our banana bread, even more if it's got some chocolate chips thrown in ;)

Best banana bread trick? When your bananas start to get real ripe, like brown, throw them out there no good here come the flies, brown... peel them open and throw the guts into a plastic Ziploc baggie and then throw that guy in the freezer. No wasted bananas and banana bread anytime you like without waiting for ripe bananas.

Banana Bread:

Ingredients:
  • 2/3 C Shortening
  • 1/2 C Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 3/4 C Flou
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 c mashed banana
  • 1/2 C walnuts... or chocolate chips :)

Directions:
  1. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well
  2. Sift together dry ingredients.
  3. Add dry ingredients alternatley with bananas, blending well after each addition.
  4. Stir in walnuts or as many chocolate chips as you want! Or both...
  5. Pour into a well greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes
