Moving across the country, going to school and trying to figure out this whole being an adult thing. Life never quite goes the way you expect, but we think we're flying in the right direction.

Chicken Shoes
We picked up a rotisserie chicken from Costco Sunday night. There is nothing easier and better than that! Chicken sandwiches Sunday night, for lunches, and more chicken for dinner this week!
Rukia was even more excited about it than we were. We opened up the lid and she came running, sitting pretty with her tail wagging. Apparently chicken smells better than the carrots she ignores. Who would have thought?
Penny was equally ridiculous, sniffing and licking the chicken thoroughly before inhaling giant pieces all in one bite. After getting Rukia to do a number of crazy tricks for a bunch of chicken we sat down and ate our dinner. Then we noticed Rukia and Penny laying down next to each other, very strange for them, near Chad's flip flops. A lone piece of chicken had fallen on to his shoe.
Penny was too afraid to eat it with Rukia sitting there and Rukia knows that she's not allowed to touch shoes. It was hilarious. They just sat there staring at it and each other. Finally we told Rukia she could get it.
About a half hour later we see her doing the most ridiculous thing. She's all the way in our pantry closet sniffing around. Is there a bug, is Penny in there, what is she doing? Ooooohhh. She's checking all of our shoes for chicken! After checking the closet she went around the whole living room inspecting all the shoes for more chicken. No such luck pup, we don't usually misplace chicken in our shoes.
In other news Penny now throws a giant fit every time we make something in the kitchen. Apparently she is also wanting some more chicken out of us. Heaven forbid we use the can opener, all hell breaks loose because we are obviously opening a can of tuna fish. Cry all you want fur babies, the chicken's gone.

Operation: Hair Free Zone
Chad had a beautiful, wonderful, marvelous idea this weekend. Get these animals and all of their hair out of our bedroom!
I did not have animals growing up, so when Chad and I got married and all of a sudden there was this furry creature sleeping next to my face, it was kinda gross. Sunny is not a curl up on the end of the bed and purr kind of cat. He's a "I'm gonna sleep on your face and suffocate you in the night" kinda cat. Cute right? Took some getting used to. Also, he was very used to sleeping with Chad, so he was less than thrilled that I was now there taking "his" place. More than once he has woken me up in the middle of the night pawing at my face, licking my face, sleeping on my face or just sitting and staring at me like he's planning out my murder. More than once I have picked him up andthrown placed him gingerly across the room off the bed.
Then we got Rukia. She was a wild and crazy pup. She was always so hyper and wound up that she could only ever sleep when we put her in her kennel. We tried to snuggle with our new little puppy but she was having none of it. As she's gotten older she's mellowed out (a bit) and has become rather snuggly... ok needy. Her favorite spot to sleep is at the foot of the bed. And while that doesn't sound too bad, having a 60ish pound dog sprawled out on her back at the "foot" of the bed, really means she is taking up the whole bottom half of our bed.
Then we got Penny. Whose favorite thing in the world is also to sleep next to our faces.
Combine their sleeping patterns with all the lovely animal hair and we had had enough. Especially with all the open mouth sleeping that's been going on lately thanks to being sick. Cat hair on your clothes is annoying, cat hair in the mouth is super gross town.
So this weekend we cleaned our room, washed all the bedding, washed the rug, dusted and vacuumed. I would quickly like to point out that the vacuuming took place after 1am, take that Brittany! Then we kicked all the animals out... and the crying started.
Sunny could care less, as long as he has food and water he is fine snuggled up on a chair downstairs with a fluffy blanket. Penny and Rukia have been sleeping slammed up against our door. Penny meows and cries, while Rukia huffs and puffs right along with her. Poor baby girls.
And while Penny and Rukia cry, Chad and I are reveling in our hair free, uninterrupted sleep! We'll see how long we last against the whining and sad pouty faces though.

The Crazies
Yesterday was a doozy.
Chad had school all day, it's his long day, and 3 tests to take. One was taken in class, which was nice, the other 2 had to be taken in the testing center.
I get out of work at 4, but he doesn't get out of his lab until 5. So I wandered around KMart (KMart is the worst, and ours is filthy). Then I walked back to work and he picked me up. I dropped him off at class and ran home to let out Rukia. Then back up to campus to bring a very loopy Chad some dinner.
You know how you start to go crazy after so many hours of class/studying/testing in one day? Yeah, he was there, and it was his first time experiencing the fun of it. After he ate I dropped him off at the Testing Center to tackle his last 2 tests and I went grocery shopping. Then I just wandered around stores until he was done. While not super stressful on my part I was definitely tired from being gone all day. If he didn't have the crazy before he definitely had them after 2 tests.
After killing his tests we headed home around 10pm. Blah. We were welcomed home by a certain cat who didn't feel like using the litter box. Excellent. She really manages to have perfect timing. When we first got her she would jump up on the bed and start purring. I would wake up, look up at her and then wonder why my feet were getting so warm. Yup, she peed on me. This happened multiple times. What a sweetheart. Luckily we have moved past that. And while she cops an attitude at times at least she stopped peeing on me. I don't know how this turned into me talking about cat pee for so long....
Chad continued to be a champ taking out the trash, picking up, throwing in laundry from said cat incident, and taking out the dog. I crashed. Yup, the one who was in school all day, taking tests until his brain turned to mush was the one who kept on going at home while I promptly died. And I mean died. Like, fall asleep while your husband is talking to you, died. And that is reason #89237 why I love my husband.

While I don't have pictures of Chad looking crazy while studying I have a plenty of me |

Strike that, just three...
Sadly we came to our senses this morning. Chad starts going to school full time in two weeks. I'm at work all day. Training a new pup was not going to work out. It wouldn't have been fair to him. Some times impulsive decisions don't quite work out... funny how that works.
So for now it's just us and Rukia, Penny, and Sunny. A new puppy will have to wait for a while.

Cat Nap
We did it! We finally woke up early this morning! It has been a goal of ours to be those awesome people who wake up early and accomplish wonderful things before we would normally get up. Our alarms have been set at 5:45 for, oh I don't know, like 2 years, and for almost all of that 2 year period we have slept right through them.
Last year we had a couple good attempts. We woke up, did P90X, ate breakfast, showered and got ready for work and then... I threw up. Good Morning! We stopped again after that. But really, can you blame me.
Today was not as hard core for me. Chad woke up and made us breakfast :) Then he went for a run while I laid down on the couch and tried not to fall asleep. So Chad was a super awesome rockstar this morning and I had a cat nap, literally with the cats. I did manage to wake up and work out around 10. Better than nothing! There's always tomorrow.
In honor of the beloved cat naps, here's our crazy Penny who refuses to sleep curled up in a cute little ball. Now you can see how our tiny little kitten can take up half the bed at night...

No that's not the crack apartment where we found and rescued Penny, it's just our old janky, falling apart, apartment.
