Sunday Dress

Skirt: F21, Cardigan & Shoes: Target, Necklace: Aldo

Happy Easter!

We are celebrating by sleeping in, eating lots of sugary food and lounging in our p.j.'s all day. And just to make all my Michiganders jealous... it really was too hot to be wearing this cardigan today. We are dangerously close to the time of year when any clothes are too many clothes. I'll let you guess whose favorite time of year that is. And on that note, I hope you all have a swell Easter :)

Pinspired

Oh Pinterest, I'm trying to use my boards and the hundreds of things I've pinned. I've made all kinds of scrumptious (and horrendous) food and desserts, cleaning supplies, and crafts. Now it's time to tackle the style board. I've pinned all these outfits, now it's time to pick some and make them my own!

Pinned Image

So I picked this little beauty to recreate. I already had a remarkably similar top and I found this skirt at a Thrift Store. Warning: I am overly excited about it. Pleats and Polka Dots? Um, duh? Yes please. I snatched that puppy of the rack faster than you could all nod your head with me about the pleats and polka dots bit.

I think it's just a little too long and it also needs to be taken in a bit, but all in all I think it was worth the couple bucks I spent on it!

Any great thrift store finds lately?

Sunday Dress

Dress: WalMart, Shoes: Target, Necklace: random store in the mall
It was a great Sunday. Perfect really. We slept in, I surprised Chad with his half birthday party, and we ate cake and nachos. We made Christmas cards, watched too much tv and just relaxed. I also decided to dress like it's springtime in my pretty little dress from... drum-roll... WalMart. Ta-da! My mom bought me this little pretty when she was here visiting. It quickly has become my favorite dress, so you bet I will be wearing it whether it's spring, summer, fall or winter!

Do you have a favorite article of clothing you wear despite the weather?

My favorite part of cool weather

Dress: H&M, Leggings: Target, Boots: Payless

Cooler weather rocks. Hoodies, hot cocoa, changing leaves, jackets, and best of all leggings.

Is it a shirt? Is it a dress? Who cares, I've got my leggings on!

Turns out Chad and I are becoming overly excited about Christmas this year, just like everyone else it seems. My immediate family is all coming out to visit for Christmas so I thing my excitement over the holidays is more of a reflection on my excitement to see my family :)

We've got a few decorations up, have seen numerous Christmas movies and drank more hot cocoa then a normal person should already. We're geeked to say the least. The rest of the Christmas festivities have found there way into our Christmas countdown for December. I did one the first year we were married as a surprise for Chad, and it looks like it will continue in all the years to come. While there is no shortage of countdowns on Pinterest I'll be sure to share mine soon so you can get excited about making your own this year too ;)

Sunday Dress

Dress: Target, Leggings: Target, Shoes: Snatched from my sister :)

Introducing.... The Pajama Dress!!!

No, not a sweat dress....

a Pajama Dress! A dress so ridiculously comfortable that it rivals your pajamas. For me it's this guy, made out of stretchy, comfy t-shirt material. It's long enough, forgiving enough, it's perfect.

Wearing uncomfortable tights is not allowed with the pajama dress, but super awesome stretchy leggings are definitely ok ;)

Best part about this dress? I got it on sale in the maternity section at Target. Bam! That's right, the maternity section! This place is a gold mine people. Especially if you don't live in Utah where everyone is preggo. Target's maternity sale section  >  Utah's.

I'm 5'10" so finding dresses that approaches my knee is difficult. During the summer it's impossible. But... maternity dresses are usually longer not to mention more comfortable. And as long as there's no side, belly ruching, you usually can't tell. Just get it a size or two smaller and your good to go!

Dressed Up for the Dark

Shirt: Down East, Jeans: Target, Boots: TJMaxx

Does anyone else find it silly to dress up to go sit in a dark theater? Do your hair, makeup and put on your best.... jeans. Ok, so I'm not really that dressed up, but I still think that if we are going to go sit in the dark and eat junk food we should just commit, go all out, and go in our pajamas. And maybe bring a blanket, because my theater is c-o-l-d! Anyone else with me? I think Stacy and Clinton just had a heart attack.

Sunday Dress

Top and Skirt: DownEast Outfitters, Shoes: Target
I was lucky enough this weekend to stop into DownEast Outfitters where they were having a 50% off their clearance sale. Boom! Love that. My happy self left with 2 new skirts and a new lacy top that I wore not just Sunday, but Saturday as well. Because isn't that what we all do? Wear our favorite new piece of clothing until it become socially unacceptable to wear it another day in a row?

Five Things {I've learned from Fashion Blogs} Friday

In all my days of fashion blog stalking I've learned a few things:

1. Put a belt on it! I've come to the conclusion that pretty much everything looks great with a belt. If your outfit is in a sad state just slap a belt on that puppy and that'll fix your problem 90% of the time.

2. You can never have too many cardigans.

3. Buns are your saving grace if you hate washing your hair, hate brushing your hair, hate doing your hair, can't bear to wear your hair down due to excruciating heat, or any combination of the above. I happen to fall into every one of these categories and am overly excited that my short hair is just long enough to swing this look again. Especially since I have 9am church.

Hello belt, cardigan and bun!
4. You don't need to spend a ton of money to look great. Is it fun? Sure, who doesn't like shopping? Is it easier if you have a larger shopping budget, um.. yeah. But you don't have to. I have found lots of my favorite items at thrift stores and I'm finding that a lot of the fun comes from remixing what you already have. Wearing old items in new or unexpected ways to create new looks. This is definitely something I'm working on and trying to get better at.

Thrifted pants and shirt!
5. If YOU like it and YOU think it looks great, by all means wear it! Who cares what I think, or the random lady at the grocery store, or commenter #12 on your blog. If you like it and it makes you feel great then wear it. Style and Fashion is all about self expression and dressing to make you feel like a million bucks.

Just Kidding. This does not make me feel like a million bucks! But we are addicted to the cartoon Adventure Time and totally need these shirts! In our size of course :)

What other favorite tips or tricks are do you have? As someone who is trying to break her scrub wearing habit I would love to hear them! :)

I want to reward you with five minutes of uninterrupted eye contact

Pardon my sweatiness glistening. It was hot. I was wearing pants. Clearly I had lost my mind.

Shirt & Jeans: Thrifted, Sandals: Target, Necklace: F21, Belt: H&M

"So are you and Chad planning on going to the Rodeo?"
"Oh... Um... We're from Detroit."

So while we had absolutley no plans on attending said rodeo, we actually managed to stumble our way into it on Saturday night. Ha! Look at us being all western and cowboy-ish.

We wandered around gawking at all the horses, bulls, and cowgirl princesses. Rodeo princesses? I don't know what they are called but their outfits are awesome. Who doesn't want a pair of hot pink fringe pants with a jacket and cowboy hat to match? Somebody sign me up for the next rodeo!

Sunday Dress

Shirt: TJMaxx,  Skirt: H&M,  Shoes: Target

Sunday is the one day of the week that I get an opportunity to dress up. Not just dress in my "dressy" jeans, but actually pull out a dress and some heels and look good. Heels and I aren't exactly BFF's so they are definitely a Sunday Only item. I can get through about three hours of wearing them, especially if I'm sitting down, but that's about it.

"Danielle, your young, your newly married, you have no kids! You can dress up and go out anytime you like!"

And go to Chuck-o-rama? Applebees? Ooooh, I know, Target! Our options are pretty limited in a small town of where to go once you actually get dressed up. So for now I'll focus on turning up the volume on Sundays and really knocking the socks of those nursery kids!
