Sunday Dress

Happy Monday! While the rest of the world is at home sleeping in, making pancakes, playing in the snow and napping, I am at work. To make matters worse the Dr. said if he knew how s-l-o-w of a day we had he would have just canceled and we all could have stayed home. Would-a, Should-a, Could-a. That of course made today even more unbearable, knowing I could have been home under my heated blanket snuggled up with the fur babies and Chad.

Sunday was a recovery day. Recovery from last week and recovery from my birthday surprise on Saturday. After church in the morning, lunch, and playing with the camera for a while we napped. And when I say napped, I mean slept. Because when you sleep from 4:30 to 9:30 you can't consider that a nap anymore. We had a glorious dinner of corn pops when we woke at 9:30, let the dog out and then headed up to bed to fall back asleep.

You would think after a million hours of sleep I would have been ready to go this morning. You of course would be wrong. I am tired and I am working... but I also have another gift certificate to a restaurant in my pocket and new birthday boots on my feet. So, really, I guess this Monday isn't that bad at all.

Confessions

1. I am an NPR girl. After years of listening to music at work it was sooooo nice to work in a lab where our professsor choose to listen to NPR. I had never listened to it but it quickly grew on me. My coworkers hated it. It would drive them crazy. I l-o-v-e-d it. Still do. Half the time I'm learning something cool and the other half of the time I just sort of zone out to it and have it as background noise. Chad will often make comments on whatever was just said and I'll have no idea what's going on.

2. I'm addicted to fashion blogs. You wouldn't ever know it considering I'm usually found in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, or workout clothes. Chad's family all knows I'm generally wearing a crappy old white shirt with a picture of me and Jared ironed on the front. I like to keep it classy like that. After a long day in scrubs it's hard to come home and put on clothes that actually fit, workout clothes and extremely old (and slightly holey) t-shirts are much more comfy. Maybe someday I'll learn to put my clothes together to look like all the fabulous girls on these blogs I read, or at least on the weekends.

3. After being a complete girl and buying shoes all the time and getting quite the collection (well quite the collection for a college girl on a budget) I can't remember the last pair of shoes I bought that weren't for running, or to replace my cheap-o sandals. While I am strangely proud of this it also makes me a little sad.

4. I haven't played the piano since December. I've got the key to the church so I can go up there if I want but I've been lame and I haven't. Long term goal: buy a nice electronic keyboard.

5. I have a love/hate relationship with my retainer. I hate it because it's a retainer, come on. I love it because it keeps my teeth looking nice and my head from throbbing due to shifting teeth. After abadoning it a month (or so) ago I started getting these headaches everyday. I thought they were from my last wisdom tooth slowly starting to invade my face but I'm hoping part of it was just the massive shifting my teeth were doing without my handy dandy retainer.

The past two nights have been ridiculously painful. I just jammed my retainer into place and swallowed a handful of advil before trying to sleep so I didn't have to deal with the pain. It kinda worked. My teeth are getting back into place and I will hopefully remember to wear my gosh darn retainer a couple of times a week!

6. My wisdom tooth is in fact invading my face though and I need to find a dentist that will remove this thing asap for next to nothing without permanantley damaging my face. I don't think they exist.

My Phone Has Eyes

We have Camels at our Farmer Market/Craft Fair
Nutella Oatmeal with Shredded Coconut, mmm
The animals all watching a bug drown
Along my running route
The "cool" truck we rented to move the mattress
Is there anything better than homemade popcorn.... and some redbull... whatev.
Playing old school Aladdin for Sega Saturday morning.

Our sweet juicer

Both of us laying on the floor trying to recover after running 3 miles in 105 degrees. Not the best idea ever.

New Running Shoes

Sweaty Mess. Chad played tennis for 2 hours in the same 105 degree weather I went running in.

New sandals

People REFUSE to run/walk/bike on the sidewalk here. Biking I understand. Why this lady must run on the side of the road next to a sidewalk, and going with traffic is beyond me.

Totally worth taking up a parking space for.

Déjà vu

We are big believers that while your birthday may only be one specific day, you really should be celebrating for at least a week :) So that's what we've been doing! Last night we continued the birthday celebration with presents!

Present #1 was a Jillian Michaels yoga dvd. We've been attempting to do yoga every morning and hopefully this will help, our other options are P90X and P90X-2. They are way too long (1 hour and 1 1/2 hours) to try to fit in before Chad's classes so hopefully this one will help us be more successful, it's only 1/2 hour! Plus we're addicted to the Biggest Loser and it's somehow wonderful hearing Jillian yelling at me.

Present #2 was a surprise, a tanning membership! I know, I know, I'm gonna get cancer and all that jazz... Chad bought me a tanning membership last year though and I LOVED it! I was brown and beautiful and hello?, 15 minutes all to yourself, laying in a warm bed with nothing you have to do and no distractions? All women should love tanning. Am I right Noelle? So excited about that one!

Present #3 was more shoes! A lot of you have seen my shoe collection, it's pretty expansive, but I haven't gotten new shoes in a long while, unless of course you count the barefoot running shoes I got for Christmas :) whoops. That's more athletic "gear" though, right? Chad got me some cute new shoes to replace my gross, old, I'm a six year old girl shoes that have hearts all over them. They are as much a present for me as they are for him too.

After all the exciting presents we went out for sushi and killed time before we went and saw a movie. We tried getting pretzels from Costco but we got there 10 minutes before they closed and they didn't even have pretzels! What? bummer. Who closes at 8:30 anyway, random time. So we went to the "mall" to find pretzels instead. I guess we were spoiled by having a bunch of malls so close to us, especially Great Lakes where we could walk around the mall and shop to kill time before seeing a movie there. It's a sad, sad mall here. Very small, very disappointing. They did however have pretzels! Score 1 for the crappy mall! After finally finding some pretzels we went and got more junk food to sneak in and saw the new Mission Impossible movie. It was a fantastic night, thanks Chad!
