Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
  • Taking selfies everywhere. My hair is making me vain.
  • A woman at the nursing home prayed over me last time I saw her, 2 months ago. I saw her this Tuesday and I was standing pretty well, it was morning and I had drugs in me, and she was very proud of the fact that she had indeed healed me. I made sure to thank her profusely.
  • Trying to explain how the new laser we have at work works. Highly concentrated light...ATP... energy... more efficient cells.... and magic! Laser beams of magical healing power!

Awesome:
  • Chad's photography. He just keeps getting better and better. Which is also making me vain.
  • Shine spray. Makes my hair so pretty!
  • Homemade French Fries.
  • Snuggles with Rukia. It's a good thing she's needy because I'm really wanting a new puppy.
  • Coconut oil. So good in my hair and as a makeup remover.
  • Swig, I'm so addicted to Dr. Pepper with coconut cream.
Happy early Halloween! What are you (or your babies) dressing up as?

Fancy Flowers

Saturday afternoon Chad decided we were getting dressed up and going out! "Going out where" I asked, "Target?". After grumbling for a few minutes about how I can't walk anywhere and there's no where to go in St. George I just shut my mouth and prettied myself up a bit. I forgot that my hair now takes about 5 minutes to do instead of the hour I used to spend wrestling in a sweaty fit with my blow dryer and straightener.

Short Hair > Long Hair

Plus I had just gotten a few products and now my hair doesn't look so fried and frizzed out. Thank you YouTube and Tracy ;) We were all dressed up with no place to go, so we returned some books to the library and on the way back stumbled into a fun little corner. Chad spotted a sign that was advertising ice cream and fruit so of course we turned around to see what it was.

It was a little old timey square, with a barn that sold fruit, cheese and hard ice cream!!!! They had a little playhouse, a fancy hotel, and other little shops. We wandered around a bit, happy we found something to do while dressed in something other than athletic wear.

We finished up our fancy night out with a giant corn dog (so fancy) and taking pictures at the top of D Bluff. We made it home with more fake flowers than is reasonable and started in on a little art project. We made an awesome floral crown to use in a photo shoot on Sunday evening. And let me tell you those pictures turned out rockin' awesome. I can't wait for Chad to finish editing them so I can show them off!

The pictures are just a tad bit better than this guy here

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

So awesome, nothing better than surprise dinner delivered to your house, thanks mom and dad!
Awkward:

  • Trying to find the room where the gentle yoga stretch class was last night. I hobbled up the stairs and wandered around, finally finding the small and very empty yoga room. After a couple minutes I gave up and went to the front desk and asked if I was in the right place. The girl was nice and showed me the room I should be in, the room I was in. After 30 minutes of doing my own thing I finally left. On the way out I spotted another room on the first floor with people yoga-ing it up. By that time it was too late so I just went and got ice cream instead.
  • Our office was renovated a couple weeks ago. While the dr. and wife were going for a nice tan wall, they ended up with a mauvey pink color. Whoops.
  •  An older lady falling off the "stage" at the mall's fashion show. She was standing at the end and just started to tumble, taking the whole curtain and pole system holding the curtains down with her. Best part, the announcers just kept going. The show must go on, regardless of any broken hips or concussions! Jk, she was fine.
  • The medical assistant who walked me back to one of my follow up appointments, all the way at the end of the freaking hall. She was super funny though and hunched over like me and walked all crazy so I wasn't the only one who looked silly. I decided to look over the fact that she and everyone else at a spine center thought I looked ridiculous (instead of fitting right in?) and just go with it. Somehow it did make me feel less crippled and stupid to have her Quasimodo walk with me.
  • Penny peeing on our rope, adding insult to injury. Good thing we both can't climb right now anyways.
Awesome:
  • We have officially been converted to the joy of Chik-fil-a.
  • Tilamook is the bomb. Their cheese is amazing and we just recently found that their ice cream is seriously better than any other.
  • My healthy posture class. I'm usually the youngest there and obviously the worst lol. I'm starting to be able to stand up again and Lori (the most awesome teacher) gets all of the credit for that.
  • A/C in our car!!!
  • Any drive throughs that give Rukia a treat. So far I think her favorite was a baby cone from McDonalds.
  • New neighbors. So far so good. They seem relatively normal except for the fact that we never see or hear them... which is actually just perfect!

Life Lately

Our free time has become super lazy. But at least we've graduated from living/sleeping on the couches to the bed! We spend a lot of time there, eating, playing video games, and watching way too much tv and movies. But really, we don't have many options, so tv it is! Just in case you find yourself in a similar situation, hopefully with a Netflix account, here are some "new to us" shows that we've been watching. Luckily shows that are all wrapped up, no waiting till next week for a new episode, just pure binge watching at it's finest.

Damages, Glenn Close is a killer lawyer and I want to be her so badly!

Twin Peaks, Chad watched this on Netflix and is stoked for the 3rd season to come out even though the 2nd season wrapped up in the 90's.

The F Word, The F Stands for Food guys, come on!, but it's Gordon Ramsey's show so you know there is a lot of the other F word involved as well. If you don't mind that though it's an awesome show, we already went out and found the cook book that goes with the show! Skip the 1st season and just start on the 2nd, you have to go to Hulu for this gem.

Mind of a Chef, the first season was awesome, clearly we enjoy food shows.

Just to keep things interesting Chad decided a fort was in order. So we had a little love tent situation going on for a while. It kept us nice and cozy at night, made Penny feel super protected and cuddly and freaked the heck out of Rukia. Finally one night Rukia was laying on the corner of the bed, on top of the sheet and took the whole darn thing down right on to Chad's head. We threw it all to the side and continued sleeping. Penny managed to find a brand new cozy spot in spite of the tent's downfall.

Can you spot the kitty?
And just in case you missed out, here are our favorites. We've seen each episode more times that we can count and will regularly quote them. And by quote I mean recite the entire episode. Now that's love.

New Girl

Parks and Recreation

30 Rock, how have people never watched this?

How I Met Your Mother, thanks for getting us hooked on this way back when Patrick!

We also love Arressted Development, It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, and Portlandia.

Any shows that you absolutely love? Share your favorites!!!

Bring on the Crazy

A patient inviting me to lunch so she could heal my back. Somehow she managed to walk out of the office with my cell phone number and me saying that lunch sounded great, whoops...  After 3 phone calls and 2 messages from her, all on a Monday morning before 10am, I manned up and said no thank you. She was all of a sudden less than polite with me, telling me that it was my choice if I never wanted to get better.

RUDE

Old men love my new hair cut. Granted the old ladies do too, but there's something about me that old men love, and the short hair is really upping my game with them. I've said it before and I'll say it again,

Being so uncomfortable trying to sleep all night, pre injections. Being up since before 5am and then finally falling back to sleep with my heating pad..... at 8am. On a Monday. I finally woke up at 9am (our office opens at 9) and frantically tried to get ready without medicating myself first, giant nightmare. I just did a sad crippled run all over the house while I cried and became a sweaty mess. Also, I have never been late to work, I don't count ice storms or flat tires - acts of God cannot be avoided, so I was stressed and embarrassed, and HOT, and a teary mess. Apparently I didn't hide it all too well since no one said a single word to me about being 45 minutes late (I did text that I was running behind).

The handicapped day group came into work for their routine foot care. One of them got a little handsy, I got a looooong hug and then a couple boob grabs as he let me go. By the time I realized it was no accident he already had another handful of boob.

Lucky for me we don't have patients today, I just have to answer the phones and try not to eat the giant bag of mint m&m's that a rep dropped off. Wish me luck.

Time for a Little Change

I've been dark red, bright red, auburn, highlighted, dark brown, almost black and now....

Something is different in this one!

Blonde! Super blonde! Aaaaand I think it's fantastic.

When you only have this much hair to color though, why not?! Also I've found my dream stylist. He's amazingly thorough and I've never been more in love with my cut. Sometimes you just need a change, and chopping off all your hair and dying it a crazy new color is nothing if not a great new change :)

Peace

We've been doing well enough that we've been able to get outside a little bit the past couple weeks. Nothing like we used to, but that's ok. We've drove out into the desert and had picnics a couple times and it's been wonderful. Just me, Chad, Rukia and the desert. The temperature has been perfect, there's been a cool breeze and these views for miles. There is something about simply being outdoors that breathes some life into my soul and brings me peace.

Hello Stranger

Well hello there. Excuse my bloggy break, but I was losin' it big time over here. Like crying in the shower, rocking back and forth, waiting for sweet, sweet death to wash over me losin' it. I was in a lot of pain (duh) and a tad bit depressed. No shocker there really. I mentioned that I thought the pain pills were making me feel depressed at my first appointment with my spine specialist and he said he would be depressed too if was like me since March. Good news, it wasn't the pain meds, bad news, it was me. Awesome sauce.

So there we were dealing with all of my back issues when, long story short, everything seemed to just fall apart. Things went from bad to worse. Lucky for us though, we have an amazing family though and everyone really helped us out in one way or another. Seriously, every single one. It's comforting to know that we have such an amazing support system when things don't go well.

Even better, my parents were a mere 7 hours from us when ish hit the fan. So when we were really at our worse my parents were here to do everything for us. They drove down to our house immediately and we couldn't have been more happy/relieved they were with us. They cleaned our messy house, did dishes, helped us struggle through the grocery store to restock our pantry and kept us sane. They may have left the grandparents but they were pretty much doing the same thing down here with us, dr. visits, pharmacy runs, and making sure we ate.

We walked around the temple, played cards, ate great food, showed them where we rock climb, rekindled a love of Swig, and spent a couple days in Vegas before they finally had to go back home.

Just to clarify, we are doing better, slowly but surely :) It's still not rainbows and butterflies over here, but we are working on it!
